Byron and Erika Donalds

Erika Donalds is the Founder and Chairman of the Florida School Choice Movement. She is a mother of three boys and recently left a career as a finance executive to follow her passion for education and dive into school choice full-time. During her tenure as a Collier County School Board member, she co-founded the Florida Coalition of School Board Members and served as the group’s President. She was appointed to Florida’s 2017-2018 Constitution Revision Commission by then Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran, and recently served on Governor DeSantis’ Advisory Committee on Education and Workforce Development. She is a CPA and also runs The Optima Foundation, a non-profit organization established to expand and support superior schools of choice. She also served as a founding Advisory Board Member for Mason Classical Academy, a Hillsdale College public charter school in Collier County.

Byron Donalds was a candidate for the US Congress in 2012. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2016 where he currently sits on six committees and serves as the Chair of the PreK-12 Quality Committee and as Vice Chair of the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee. He was named a Champion of Economic Freedom for his A+ rating for the 2017 Legislative Session by Americans for Prosperity. For the 2018 Legislative Session he was the recipient of the Conservative Excellence award by the American Conservative Union Foundation. During his time in the Florida House, Byron has primarily focused on criminal justice reform, elderly affairs and striving to make sure each child in Florida has access to a world-class education.
